Partner description:
Founded in 1948 in co-operation with France; early international orientation; Europa- Institut, Frankreichzentrum. The expertise in computer science found within the University is complemented by a range of top-class research institutes including the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence, the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science and the International Conference and Research Centre for Computer Science at Dagstuhl Castle. Computer science in Saarbrücken has also proved extremely successful in combination with other disciplines.
 
Examples of such fruitful interdisciplinary co-operations include business information technology, law and informatics, computational biology, computational linguistics and cognitive science, the latter being the subject of a nationally funded collaborative research centre. Other collaborative research centres at Saarland University have been established in the areas of biomedicine and materials research. New research centres, one for language research and language technology and one for nanobiotechnology are presently under construction.
CVs Key Personnel:
Prof. Dr. Petra Schweizer-Ries (Jun.Prof.): University degree in Psychology at the University of Freiburg in 1992 and Ph.D. at the University of Heidelberg in 1996. Since 1992 she had been working at the Fraunhofer Institut für Solare Energiesysteme and at the Institut für Solare Energietechnik and was concerned with the introduction of renewable energy technologies in developing and industrialised countries.

Jan Zoellner: University degree in Psychology at the Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg in 2005. Since 2005 he has worked as research assistant in the department of Environmental Psychology at the University of Magdeburg. His main research interest is the social acceptance of renewable energies within a project promoted by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany.

Irina Rau: University degree in Psychology at the Justus-Liebig University Gießen. She was the project leader for renewable energies at young Friends of the Earth Germany. She was engaged in the EU project Pro Biodiesel and is currently working on the project “Acceptance of Renewable Energies" promoted by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany.

Irmela Benz: University degree in Psychology at the Technical University Dresden in 2008. Since February 2008 she has worked as a research assistant at the department of Environmental Psychology at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. Her main research interests and activities are concerned with expert-laymen-communication, architectural psychology and energy efficiency.
Participation in the project:
In order to assure the involvement of the end users during the pilots the expert in socio economic assessment, the partner Saarland University, (See WP2 and WP4), will carry out several activities for guaranteeing the participation of the users of the buildings, the running and the optimisation of the ICT based solution.
